I purchased a quote "plus size" costume online because I am a pretty standard size 16. The listing said it fits sizes 16-24W. Well I got the thing, and it barely fit. I had to rip the waist to get it over my head and now I have to re-sew the darn skirt back on to it! I honestly don't know how anyone bigger than my already big butt could squeeze their behind in to that thing or how they could say it fits these sizes when it does not. I had this problem with a costume I bought last year too. It fit me perfectly, but there's no WAY anyone over a 16 could get in to it.
WHY do these things run so small and who would I complain to to make sure these listings aren't so misleading? Companies who sell these costumes don't MAKE them, so complaining to who sold it to me wouldn't do any good. It's bad enough they charge and more for already cheaply-made costumes.
I am starting to plan my Halloween costume and I think that I want to be a green absinth fairy. Does anyone have a good costume idea for me and know of any good vintage clothing stores in NYC to buy costume pieces from? I was thinking of using a green top hat, bustier, wings and flowy skirt. I would love to hear some other suggestions.
k, i know ive already asked a question like this but... does anyone know where in victoria or vancouver i could buy a ball gown, preferably with an A skirt (bell shaped) from around the late 18 hundreds for cheap? Or Opera gloves?

Leaver's Ball, Prom (whatever you want to call it) in June and I need a dress. And I have absolutely no idea where to start.
Thing is I don't really do dresses but on this occasion I have to. I don't want anything too fancy with over the top designs which I'm probably never ever going to wear, ever. I don't want it costing loads either because there's not much point seeing as how it's only for my Year 11 Leaver's Ball.
Lets describe me and what I like and don’t like first which may help. I don't like jazziness; a few bits here and there fine but everywhere? Forget it. Love vintage bits, guarantees chances of no one else wearing exactly the same as you. I’d prefer a knee length dress. I’m a bit of a rock chic so nothing dead flowery, pink or both. Two piece sets would be fine (skirt and top). I have brown skin and black hair and I’m quite small if that helps at all.

last year i was Wendla from Spring Awakening, because i love the play and it won the Tony for best new musical that year, but i had to explain to EVERYONE who i was

my costume last year was basically a vintage dress (20$) and black shoes and tights that i already had
i wanted to be Angel this year, but have no idea where to find the coat she has (plus i cant sew very well so i cant make anything myself) im open to all kinds of suggestions, even non-broadway/musical stuff, but i do need an idea soon

I am a plus size and I want a cute (somewhat sexy) its a church things so I can't go as ghost, ghoul, demon, things like that. So I would like it to feminine with a skirt and maybe leggings, if it makes a difference I just dyed my hair burgundy and I plan on keeping it that color, and I am white too.

i have a halloween party to attentd this weekend and i want to be a fairy or devil how can i make a costume for cheap? is it hard to make a tutu at home? my grangma is seamstress so i can get her to help but dont want her to have to work too hard..and what kind of top? i figure a tutu is cute and i can go red for devil or whatever other colr to match fairy wings if i decide to go with that...i have kinda bigger legs so i dont want hoochie mamma short just sexy!! and i want to be sexy on halloween so what kind of shirt? i have a semi large chest and i am plus size but hold myself well....should i just go with a spaghetti strap tank top and tutu type skirt or should i go long dress....and how should i do my hair and make up? for each and what do you thin is better? devil or fairy? i have like 4 parties before halloween to wear this too so it has to be cute original and durable.... lol
