Jean Paul Gaultier was born in Arcueil, Val-de-Marne on 24th of April, 1952. He is now one of the top designers in the fashion industry even though he had never received formal training to be a designer. Instead, he starting sending in sketches to famous couture stylists at an early age. Pierre Cardin was impressed by his talent and hired him as a design assistant in 1970.
He designs clothing such as trench coats; playful gender-bending, reference, ethnic influences, aren’t really made for everyone, but he also designs fine suits and simple influential knitwear. Gaultier’s clothes can appear costume-y on the runway but taken piece by piece, they are both interesting and wearable. He chooses his colours skilfully (tobacco brown with purple, yellow with parrot green) and delights in sly erotic details like corset stitching or leather mixed with lace.
Jean Pauls clothes have been influenced by fashions on one the streets, he has drawn upon street styles and club culture for his haut couture creations. He has many elements of gay styles in his collections. In 1996 he made a collection called ‘Pin Up Boys’ which drew upon the sailor as a gay icon and presented figure-hugging pink and blue Tom of Finland style outfits.
(then i show 2 examples of pics!)
And then:
I like his work because the styles and colours he’s chosen have been picked carefully and go well together.
( can anyone help me expand that paragraph) ( and anyway is the rest of it good)?
thanks.. a picture of him will be going up right away!
Thank you for taking you time to read it!

I really want to dress up with my friends for halloween but i always feel out of place, so i was wondering if anyone had an idea for something that would make me look good. i was thinking something a little simpler, something i could buy separate pieces for and make a costume, because all the ones online look cheap and not flattering.
Does anyone have any ideas and/or websites with clothes i could buy to put the costume together? THANKS

Not red, because I have red hair, so fire-engine red doesn't look good on me. I am anywhere from a 24 to a 28, depending on the quality of the clothes. I am willing to make my own with a pattern... Whether it be a real kimono or just a costume doesn't matter to me, since I'm going to wear it to an anime convention. I am a stocky 5'5", and most costumes I see only go to 22...

I don't want to spend loads on a costume so i was hoping to adapt some clothes i already have but still have quite an original idea. So any suggestions would be helpful.

My friend and I were at the mall, and she's a writer for Steampunk mag. When I said I had no idea what to do to for Halloween, she suggested steampunk, and of course, I agreed. We bought me a chocolate-brown cap (think a paperboy's cap) with three brass buttons down one side, and a pair of light brown canvas suspenders with three brass buttons on the front straps and a leather connector in the back. I also own a cropped chocolate racerback vest that I got a few months ago, and the inside lining is cream with blue and orange diamonds.
I have no idea what to add to this costume. I tried it out with just a wife-beater tank and some vintage-washed skinny jeans.
I own chocolate slouchy calf-high leather boots, and I have a pocket watch at home I could possibly borrow for the party I'll be attending on Halloween. (I'm currently at college and would get it over fall break)
Any tips on clothes, shoes, accessories, jewelry or makeup are much appreciated. I've never been involved in the steampunk subculture before, though I've heard it mentioned a few times. This friend of mine is the first to ever get me really interested and involved, and I want this halloween to rock!
((One thing I would LOVE to get is a pair of aviator goggles that I can loop around my neck. Any advice on where to get a set? The cheaper the better for any and all costume-items!))
